Job Description:

The signing of Article 6 of the Paris agreements at last year’s COP in Glasgow will fundamentally change the way carbon markets work in the years to come. BeZero is looking for an experienced carbon policy expert to lead this agenda.

The role will feed directly into BeZero’s market leading ratings framework for the voluntary carbon market, ensuring it remains at the forefront of policy developments. It will provide research input into product development for the BeZero Carbon Markets platform, constructing tools to help our clients navigate the market and manage their risk exposures. The successful candidate will be expected to produce regular research reports, from in-depth analysis on the market’s policy drivers to opinion pieces on future policy developments impacting the market.

The role will report to BeZero’s Director of Research.


  • Lead the research agenda on carbon policy for the voluntary market
  • Represent BeZero in the relevant fora and help extend the company's policy network
  • Work both independently and as part of a broader team to risk model policy developments
  • Write policy briefings and engage with clients on upcoming policy changes relevant to the market
  • Maintain BeZero’s country level policy monitor
  • Work with business leads to translate policy developments into workable solutions for the business
  • Provide the research and intellectual grounding for future product development focused on carbon markets policy

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 5y experience in a policy related job, preferably with direct experience of the voluntary carbon market,
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong ability to work to tight deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
  • Data literacy - able to competently interpret and handle quantitative and qualitative data sets
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Preferred: interest in climate and environmental topics more broadly
